Dear Listeners:
Mariupol, once a bustling city brimming with the chatter of its residents and the vibrancy of urban life, has recently faced the devastating impact of the war in Ukraine. The reverberations of conflict have touched every corner of our city, affecting both its infrastructure and the souls who call it home. Amidst this desolation, our beacon of hope and resilience, the Old-Age Home in Mariupol, has endured tremendous damage.
This old-age home, a haven for our senior citizens, has been accommodating approximately 600 elderly individuals. It has been more than just a shelter; it has been a home where our grandparents and parents found companionship, care, and the comfort of shared memories. It has been a place where they celebrated the golden years of their lives, feeling safe and cared for. But now, the very foundation of this sanctuary is at risk.
The war didn’t discriminate. The walls that echoed with laughter and stories of yesteryears now bear the scars of conflict. The rooms that once provided warmth and shelter are in dire need of repair. More urgently, with winter rapidly approaching, our residents are facing severe shortages of essentials.
